Abstract: A solid state electric cell having a mobile oxidant such as iodine in the cathode, a solid state electrolyte and a suitable anode containing a material which is capable of reducing the mobile oxidant. The electrolyte contains dispersed therein a material capable of reacting with the mobile oxidant preventing it from reaching the anode. For example, silver can be dispersed in the electrolyte of the cell containing mobile iodine in the cathode such that AgI will be formed dispersed throughout the electrolyte during storage.
