摘要： For a photoflash assembly comprising a plurality of percussively-ignitable flashlamps arranged in a planar array with respectively associated reflectors and preenergized striker springs, a selective actuating mechanism for sequentially releasing the striker springs to fire respective flashlamps in response to successive indexing. The selective actuating mechanism comprises a coplanar train of intermeshing spur gears having a number of circumferentially spaced projecting ramps. The lamps and striker springs are supported on the end surfaces of shafts upon which the gears are rotatably mounted. The strikers are radially mounted on each shaft to project over the surrounding gear and lie in the path of travel of the ramps. Rotational indexing of the gear train causes one of the ramps to release a striker. A ratchet retains the position of the gears after each indexing cycle, and the sequence of releasing the strikers in response to successive indexing is programmed by the number and circumferential location of the ramps.

摘要： A flash extender assembly for operatively attaching a percussive flashcube to a camera with the flash source sufficiently offset from the camera lens to reduce ''''red-eye'''' effect. The extender is a three-piece assembly comprising a retaining base identical to the flashcube base and insertable into a camera socket, a flashcube cover affixed to the retaining base and having its top wall adapted for receiving and detachably retaining the base of an inserted flashcube, and a plurality of rods extending from the retaining base toward the top wall of the cover and interconnected at one end by a flexible web attached to the retaining base. The retaining base has an aperture adjacent each rod through which the respective rod is accessible to be actuated by a flash actuating member in the camera, and each of the rods is aligned with a slot in the top wall of the cover and adapted to move therethrough upon actuation for firing a flashlamp in an inserted flashcube.

摘要： A multilamp flash unit comprising a two-sided linear array of reflectors and photoflash lamps connected to a printed circuit board supported on a plastic base. The assembly is enclosed by a transparent cover, and the printed circuit board has a contact tab which projects through a slot in the base for insertion into an edge connector. Firm location of the printed circuit board and tab position is provided by a support structure comprising a pair of flexible, bifurcated posts which project upwardly from the base on both sides of the slot therein and each of which resiliently engage opposite sides of the printed circuit board by means of flatted protruding portions on the sides of a slot in each post.

摘要： A photoflash unit comprising a plurality of axially mounted, percussively-ignitable flashlamps arranged in a planar array with respectively associated reflectors and preenergized striker springs. The unit is receivable on a camera having a shutter responsive actuating member and includes a mechanism for sequentially releasing the striker springs to fire respective flashlamps in response to successive indexing by the camera actuating member. All reflectors of the array face in one direction, and each reflector is of flatted parabolic shape and disposed coaxially about its associated flashlamp so that the longitudinal axis of the flashlamp is substantially collinear with the optical axis of the reflector.
