摘要: A remote monitor controller decodes image data destined for a display associated to the controller, and continuously shows the image on the display until another image is provided to the controller. An image generating device, such as a personal computer, provides image data to as many displays as desired. The personal computer sends the image data to a controller associated with each display. The controller then formats the image to be shown on the display, and sits in an endless loop until another image is provided to it. Depending on the speed of the computer network, a range of options is available, from nearly static images that don't often change to full motion video on all of the displays. The controller includes an input module that receives a stream of digital data, a microcontroller that converts the digital data into image display data and stores it into a video RAM, and an output module that sends the stored image to the associated display.

摘要: A display includes a screen having a first region of a color light emissive material and a second region of a monochrome material. In one embodiment, the color light emissive material is formed from triads of red, green and blue triads of subregions. A first set of emitters grouped in threes is aligned to the first region and a second set of emitters is aligned to the second region. The first set of emitters is driven by red, green, and blue components of a color image signal to produce a multicolor display. The second set of emitters is driven by a monochrome image signal to produce a monochrome display. In a display assembly according to the invention, the first and second sets of emitters are incorporated on a common substrate. The first set of emitters forms a fixed text subdisplay and the second set of emitters is arranged as a conventional matrix addressable array. The matrix addressable array provides video, graphical or textual information and the subdisplay provides textual, fixed-shaped graphical, numerical or color-coded information.

摘要: The image rendered by a field emission display is altered. The display includes emitter tips, an extraction grid, and conductive elements in a display screen. A first voltage is applied to at least one emitter tip, a second voltage is applied to the extraction grid at a location proximate the emitter tip to which the first voltage is applied, and a third voltage is applied to a portion of the display screen. The second and third voltages are separately variable so that an adjustment causing a voltage increase in one of the second and third voltages can take effect concurrently with another adjustment causing a voltage decrease in the other of the second and third voltages. The first, second, and third voltages cooperate with the structure to generate an electron emission stream impinging upon a first area of the display screen. The area of the display screen impinged by the electron emission stream is changed.
