Abstract: In one general aspect, a method can include triggering display of a virtual environment in a head mounted display (HMD) device operating in a physical environment, triggering display of a first virtual object representing a second virtual object, the first virtual object having a size smaller than a size of the second virtual object, receiving an indication of an interaction of a user with the first virtual object, the user having a first size larger than the size of the first virtual object, and triggering an interaction with the second virtual object in response to an interaction with the first virtual object, the user having a second size larger than the first size when interacting with the second virtual object.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to providing a notification in association with an augmented reality (AR) view. In particular, one or more computing devices can generate, for display by at least one of the computing device(s), an interface depicting an AR view of at least a portion of a physical real-world environment. In accordance with aspects of the disclosure, based at least in part on detected movement of the at least one of the computing device(s), the computing device(s) can transition amongst multiple different stages of one or more elements included in the interface to notify a viewer of the interface to mind their situational awareness of the physical real-world environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for rendering computer graphics using soft-occlusion are provided. A computing system can obtain display data for a virtual element to be displayed in association with imagery depicting an environment including a physical object. The computing system can generate a set of graphics occlusion parameters associated with rendering the image data and the display data based at least in a part on an estimated geometry of the physical object. The set of graphics occlusion parameters can define blending of the display data for the virtual element and the imagery at a soft-occlusion region that includes one or more locations within the estimated geometry. The computing system can render a composite image from the display data for the virtual element and the imagery based at least in part on the set of graphics occlusion parameters.
