摘要:
The invention relates to a rapid response method for the failure of a link between two routing domains in a packet-oriented network. Once the failure of a link has been identified, substitute routes are provided for the interrupted routes by the local selection of alternative routes and by the propagation of messages along the substitute routes. In contrast to conventional inter-domain protocols such as the BGP (Iborder gateway protocol) the transmission of messages and the associated modification to the routing only involves routing domains that lie along the replacement routes. In one embodiment, a network-wide propagation of messages takes place if the failure of the link represents a persistent breakdown. As a consequence, optimal routes are re-determined in the entire network. The invention provides breakdown compensation that is appropriate for temporary breakdowns and prevents instabilities that occur as a result of the use of conventional inter-domain protocols.

The present disclosure relates to a method for providing substitute routes in rapid response to the failure of a link between two routing domains in a packet-oriented network. After the failure of a link has been identified, substitute routes are provided for routes which have been interrupted by said failure by locally selecting alternative routes and propagating messages along the substitute routes. In order to provide substitute routes, an inter-domain router checks whether the router contains a substitute route. If there is no substitute route, a request message is transmitted to at least one adjacent inter-domain router and the transmission of at least one substitute route is thus requested. If there is a substitute route in the adjacent inter-domain router, the inter-domain router making the enquiries is informed of this in a response message. The present disclosure thus results in the improved provision of substitute routes in response to disruptions in inter-domain routing.

The present disclosure relates to methods for efficiently treating disturbances in the packet-based transmission of traffic by means of a routing protocol and routing entities. According to an exemplary embodiment, a message signaling the non-availability of a neighboring routing entity is inspected. Once the message signaling the non-availability of a neighboring routing entity is received, a test message for verifying the information is sent. If the non-availability is confirmed upon inspection, the system deduces that there is a failure of the connection to the neighboring routing entity. The routing entity then occasions a change in routing in order to circumvent the failed connection. This configuration reduces the operations required for fault recovery in the network and protects the system from false error messages generated to disturb the network.

The present disclosure relates to a method for providing substitute routes in rapid response to the failure of a link between two routing domains in a packet-oriented network. According to the present disclosure, an inter-domain router determines substitute routes for fault scenarios caused by link failures. The substitute routes are stored and are regularly checked for their availability. This makes it possible to ensure, to a high degree, that a substitute route which is suitable for diverting the traffic is ready in the event of a link failing.
