Abstract: Aircraft, enhanced flight vision systems, and methods for displaying an approaching runway area are provided. In one example, an aircraft includes a display disposed in a cockpit area. A radar imaging and post-processing arrangement is in communication with the display via a processor. The radar imaging and post-processing arrangement is operative to generate a radar image of an approaching runway area, generate a symbology corresponding to the approaching runway area and/or compare the radar image to a synthetic vision (SV) database to align an SV runway area with the radar image to define an aligned SV runway area, and to communicate the symbology and/or the aligned SV runway area to the display.

Abstract: A system and a method for drone detection and collision avoidance, particularly for use in an aircraft, is provided. The system includes, but is not limited to a sensor, a processor, and an avoidance unit comprising a control unit. The sensor is configured to detect a drone signal in a predetermined space and to transmit the drone signal to the processor. The processor is configured to determine the presence of a drone in the predetermined space based on the drone signal. The processor is configured to transmit a command to the avoidance unit when the processor determines the presence of a drone. The control unit is configured to receive the command and to generate a warning signal in response to receiving the command.

Abstract: A communication node, such as a line replaceable unit and/or a sensor for use in a distributed communication network in a vehicle, particularly an aircraft, is provided. The communication node includes, but is not limited to a communication module and a processor unit. The communication module is configured to communicate with a target communication module of a target communication node of a plurality of communication nodes in the distributed communication network in the vehicle. The processor unit is configured to automatically and dynamically determine an optimum communication path through the communication network for communication between the particular communication node and a target communication node and to configure the communication module to exchange data with the target communication node over the optimum communication path through the distributed communication network.
