Abstract: A magnetic stir bar is described that includes a first portion with an outer perimeter that has a shape in plan view and a center point being a geometric center of the shape. The magnetic stir bar includes a second portion with a magnet that is connected to the first portion. The second portion is arranged so that at least part of the second portion is positioned within the outer perimeter of the first portion and so that a magnetic center point of the magnet in plan view is positioned off-center with respect to the center point of the outer perimeter. A method of mixing a fluid includes providing the fluid in a mixing container with the magnetic stir bar and rotating the magnetic stir bar with a magnetic stirrer.
