Abstract: A recording medium is printed upon by exciting it, developing the medium in a toning liquid, and drying the medium. The toning liquid is applied by passing the medium longitudinally around an arc and pumping the toning liquid to flow so that its surface touches the medium on only one face. The latter preferably is substantially liquid impenetrable.

Abstract: A recording medium is printed upon by exciting it with energy corresponding to the shapes to be printed, developing it, and drying it. The paper is dried by squeezing it between two surfaces at least one of which is absorbent, and then scraping the absorbent surface so as to render it absorptive again.
