Abstract: A flame arrestor system includes a heat exchanger through which a cooling gas flow stream is directed. A zone adjacent the heat exchanger is susceptible to possible flame and through which the cooling gas flow stream is directed. A flame arrestor containing a passage-structure matrix is disposed between the zone and the heat exchanger to quench flame from entering the heat exchanger.
