Abstract: In the preferred form, a steam iron having a water feed valve and operating mechanism therefor which may be selectively operated to produce a water flow rate and thus corresponding steam production at (1) a predetermined metered rate, (2) a momentary pulse greater than such metered rate, (3) a continuous maximum flow greater than such metered rate, and (4) cease water flow and thus allow the iron to operate as a dry iron.
