Abstract: The method includes: a first electronic device obtains a video call task request sent by a third electronic device; the first electronic device detects that the first electronic device is currently configured with no camera; the first electronic device establishes a voice call task with the third electronic device; the first electronic device sends a probe frame to an external camera; a communication module in the external camera is powered on in a process in which the external camera approaches the first electronic device; the external camera obtains the probe frame; the external camera sends a response frame to the first electronic device; and the first electronic device switches the voice call task to a video call task.
