Abstract: This application relate to the field of media technologies, and disclose an encoding method and apparatus, and a decoding method and apparatus, to improve flexibility of a probe data coding scheme. An example method includes: first obtaining probe data of a plurality of probes, and then dividing the probe data into a plurality of probe data groups; then, performing first encoding on a first probe data group in the plurality of probe data groups to generate a first encoding result, and performing second encoding on a second probe data group in the plurality of probe data groups to generate a second encoding result; and then, generating a bitstream based on the first encoding result and the second encoding result. An encoding scheme of the first encoding is different from an encoding scheme of the second encoding.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a decoding method and an electronic device. The method includes: obtaining a bitstream that includes intermediate data encoded by a second device; decoding the bitstream to obtain the intermediate data; and performing data form conversion, including domain conversion, on the intermediate data to obtain probe data. The probe data corresponds to one or more probes in a three-dimensional scene and is for determining a shading effect of an object in the three-dimensional scene in a rendering process.
