Abstract: A method to perform an in-situ analysis of a downhole communication system includes generating a transmission waveform of a transmission signal, and amplifying the transmission waveform by a digital to analog converter and an amplifier that are configured to modify a property of the transmission waveform. After generating the transmission waveform, the method includes transmitting the transmission waveform to a tool of a communication system. The method further includes filtering a response waveform from the tool, the response waveform being a waveform of a signal transmitted by the tool in response to receiving the transmission waveform. The method further includes performing an in-situ analysis of the tool based on the response waveform.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method, system, and apparatus for using non-collinear and non-orthogonal sensors to measure downhole tool dynamics are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving data from a first sensor mounted on a chassis of a downhole tool; receiving data from a second sensor, wherein the second sensor is mounted on the chassis and is positioned non-collinear relative to the first sensor; mathematically transforming the received data from the first and second sensor such that the transformed data represents the first sensor and the second sensor as if positioned orthogonal relative to each other; and determining motion data in a wellbore from the transformed data.

Abstract: Systems for synchronizing downhole subs are disclosed. Some system embodiments may include a first downhole sub including a clock signal generator configured to generate an unmodified clock signal. The first downhole sub may also include a modification circuit configured to modify the clock signal. The system may also include a second downhole sub comprising a phase-locked loop circuit configured to receive as input the modified clock signal and output a second clock signal synchronous with the unmodified clock signal.
