In seismic surveys at sea, with seismic devices, especially sources of seismic energy being towed behind a vessel and kept at a mutual configuration relative to each other, and with the devices being suspended from a buoyancy member (1) mechanical structure of the equipment permits undesirable forces which influence the sources of seismic energy (3), especially during firing, to be absorbed. Mutually arranged flexible, resilient members (4) are provided between the suspension line of the seismic devices (3) and the seismic devices (3) and/or between the seismic devices. Seismic devices are supported on two or more rigid fastening members (5) and flexible resilient members (4) extend between the fastening members and the suspension line. The flexible resilient members (4) preferably extend in a curved path between the fastening members (5) and the members together form an integrated unit.

A deflector (2) for installation in the tow-line (4, 5) between a towing vessel and a tow which is located in the water, e.g. a cable with seismic sources or a seismic source array, is suspended by a float (1) and has a fitting (9) therefrom having a tow-point (7) near the front part of the deflector connected to the tow-line (4), and an attachment point (8) to the rear of the deflector for further connection thereto of the rear part of the tow-line connected to the two. In order to be able to locate the deflector in a desired position in relation to the towing vessel and compensate for alternations in the effects of forces from the tow or vessel in addition to movements in the water, the tow-line (5) which leads on to the actual tow from the deflector body (2) is attached (8) to the deflector via a pivotable lever (10) which is situated at the same height as the lifting force center of the deflector body. The tow-point (7) for the tow-line (4 ) is provided at one lateral surface of the deflector body (2) in front of the vertical center line thereof. An additional deflector wing (18) may be incorporated in the rear part (5) of the tow-line.

A method and device for operating special equipment provided in seismic cables, i.e., gun cables and streamers (2, 3) during seismic surveys at sea, whereby energy is supplied through wires (4), or wireless transmitting/receiving devices, to the equipment (B, C, D) in the cables, without this energy supply affecting the seismic surveys. In order to achieve this, low output energy (A) is supplied through wires (4, 17) to electrical units, such as a transformer (5) in a sealed chamber (9) used to charge batteries (6) in a separate sealed chamber (10) so that they can emit for brief periods sufficiently high outputs of energy in order to perform the necessary operation of the equipment such as motors (7) and fluid pumps ( 14 ) . Control devices ( 13 ) are provided where required for control of the operation.

A device for securing two or more seismic energy sources at fixed relative positions during firing of the sources consists of a rigid framework comprising end frames and intermediate bars. In order to provide an extremely light but at the same time completely rigid framework, the seismic energy sources are used as longitudinal bars between the end elements.
