摘要： A thermoplastic closure comprises an annular tamper band connected to the skirt of a cap by frangible bridges. In one embodiment of the closure, axially extending ratchet teeth on the bottom of the tamper band cooperate with axially extending lugs on a container shoulder or transfer bead. As the cap is screwed onto the container, the teeth ratchet over the lugs. When an attempt is made to unscrew the cap, the ratchet teeth engage the lugs to prevent rotation of the tamper band so that continued application of an unscrewing force to the cap results in fracturing of the bridges along the intersection of reduced cross-section between the bridges and the skirt. The axial length of the engaging surfaces of the ratchet teeth and lugs is sufficient that they remain axially aligned through any initial axial separation of the cap and transfer bead until the ratchet teeth and lugs engage. In another embodiment of the closure, axially extending projections on the tamper bead are bent circumferentially by the lugs on the container as the closure is screwed onto the container. The bent projections wedge against the lugs as the cap is unscrewed to prevent rotation of the tamper band with the cap resulting in fracturing of the bridges.

摘要： A tamper evident closure has frangible bridges detachably connecting a tamper indicating band to the skirt of a cap, and hook-like locking tabs for securing the tamper indicating band to a transfer bead on a container, circumferentially displaced from one another and all aligned with a radially extending annular gap between the tamper indicating band and the cap, such that the closure can be integrally molded from thermoplastic material in a straight draw mold without slides, inserts or post molding operations. The frangible bridges extend along, as well as across, the annular gap and are flexible so that the tamper indicating band can be extended axially relative to the cap to accommodate for variations in dimensions and tolerances in containers to which the closure is applied.

摘要： A lid for use on dispensing containers which shows evidence of tampering either by opening of covers on the lid or by complete removal of the lid from the container, the lid having recesses in the top portion thereof wherein dispensing apertures are formed and covers for the recesses, one cover having a flap thereon which is frangibly connected to the cover along the sides of the flap and hinged to the cover at the rear portion of the flap with access to the flap only through an opening in the front wall formed by the recess. The other cover is hinged at the rear portion and has a groove therein transverse the same adjacent the front portion, with access to that cover only through an opening in the front wall formed by a second recess. The lid also has weakened sections along an outer skirt formed by vertical grooves, such that the lid can be removed only by fracturing one of the weakened sections and the one cover lifted only after breaking of the frangible side connections of the flap grasping the flap to raise engagement means on the cover from engagement with the walls of the aperture formed in the recess, and the other cover can be lifted only by flexing the front end of the cover along the transverse groove.

摘要： A one piece, resilient, integrally molded container cap consisting of a rotor member, fixed member and a frangible connecting tab. The rotor member has a closed portion and an opening portion, and the fixed member has a closed portion and a sifting and pouring opening. As manufactured, the rotor member is attached to the fixed member by a frangible connecting tab. When desired to attach the container cap to a container, the rotor member is pivoted along the frangible connecting tab to be axially displaced from the fixed member. The rotor member is then pushed down on the fixed member, the members engaging each other by complementary locking surfaces. This action insures that the closed portions of the rotor and fixed members are aligned to prevent the contents of the container from undesired escape and also effects a tight, secure fit of the rotor member to the fixed member. When it is desired to dispense the contents of the container, the rotor member is rotated to sever the frangible connecting tab, and the opening portions of the rotor and fixed members are aligned thus allowing dispensing of the contents of the container.

摘要： An improved container cover locking assembly has a base member with a continuous peripheral skirt depending therefrom and a ridge parallel to yet spaced inwardly from the skirt along the underside of the base member. Tapered locking lips depend downwardly from the ridge, extend along a substantial portion thereof and curve outwardly toward, yet terminate short of, the skirt. At least one support rib is vertically disposed along each of the locking lips to stiffen the lips in the normal locking position. The locking assembly allows a simplified molding process for a container cover which is assembled with a container body of the type having a curved mounted seat formed from the upper edge of the containers's walls.
