    摘要: A spark plug is composed of a main metal fitting having a cylindrical structure, an insulator disposed inside the cylindrical main metal fitting, a center electrode fitted in the insulator in a manner that a front end portion of the center electrode projects outward over one end of the insulator, and a grounding electrode mounted to the main metal fitting and having one end portion opposing to the front end portion of the center electrode through a discharge gap therebetween. The front end portion of the center electrode includes a conical portion having a tapered surface having a taper angle of less than 80°, and a columnar portion formed to a top end portion of the conical portion so as to have a diameter in a range of 0.4 mm to 0.8 mm.

    摘要: Carbon fouling adhered on an insulator tip of a spark plug of the present invention is burnt down by a leak current during an inductive discharge period, due to a promoted ionization before beginning a capacitive discharge, in such an arrangement of a central electrode that a border portion of a body and narrowed portion is positioned in an insulator. The carbon burning-down effect is further improved by a narrow projection provided with an earth electrode, due to increased inductive energy and extended inductive discharge time period. This is because an electric field in a discharge gap is raised, thereby decreasing a discharge voltage and suppressing an energy emitted from a coil during the capacitive discharge.

The gas guiding sections are formed in the circumferential direction within a 90-degree range measured relative to the center of the earth joint section, which is a junction of the housing and the earth electrode, in the circumferential direction. When the spark plug is mounted to the engine, it is constituted so that the gas guiding sections are projected into a combustion chamber.

    摘要: A spark plug for an internal combustion engine is provided which is equipped with a tip protrusion disposed on a top of a hollow cylindrical housing of the spark plug. The spark plug also includes a center electrode retained in a porcelain insulator disposed inside the housing and a ground electrode is joined to the housing so as to form a spark gap. The tip protrusion serves to direct a flow of gas to be ignited by a spark produced in the spark gap and is shaped to have a radial width extending in a radial direction of the housing and a circumferential width extending in a circumferential direction of the cylindrical housing. The radial width is greater than the circumferential width. This enhances the efficiency in guiding the flow of gas toward the spark gap.

    摘要: In a high frequency plasma generation system, a magnetic resonance section is provided as a frequency multiplier section between a discharge circuit and a power booster circuit.     摘要: A thermistor type temperature sensor having a substrate made from an electrically insulating ceramic plate. A thin or thick film detecting resistor is printed on the substratum. A thick or thin film pull-up resistor may also be printed on the substratum, and trimming of the resistors is possible. The ratio of B-constant values for the detecting resistor and the pull-up resistor may be selected so that it is locate between 0.4 to 0.9 or 1.1 to 1.5. The detecting resistor may be constructed from thermistor sections of the same composition and the sections may be connected in parallel or in series. The thermistor sensor can be connected to the pipe through which a gas passes. When the sensor is connected to the pipe, the angle of the measuring plane may be adjusted, so that a precise measurement can be obtained.
