Abstract: A fault detection method and a fault detection device for external antennas, where the method comprises generating a first detection signal and transmitting the first detection signal using a main antenna, detecting whether a diversity antenna receives the first detection signal, acquiring a signal strength difference between the signals received by the main antenna and the diversity antenna, respectively, determining that the diversity antenna is faulty when the signal strength difference is not less than a first threshold, determining that the main antenna is faulty when the signal strength difference is not larger than a second threshold, and determining that the main antenna and the diversity antenna are faulty when the signal strength difference is larger than the second threshold and less than the first threshold.
