Abstract: A cotton harvester of the type having a crop receiving basket which is hydraulically raised and tilted for dumping is provided with a sliding bar locking device for locking the basket in the dumping position, the sliding bar being provided with a notch to cause a sacrificial failure thereof upon actuation of the hydraulics to lower the basket with the locking device engaged to prevent failure of the surrounding structure.
