Abstract: Disclosed herein is an oral hygiene composition comprising a styrene-maleic acid copolymer or terpolymer or salt thereof, wherein the copolymer or terpolymer or salt thereof has a polydispersity ranging from about 2 to about 14 and a minimum biofilm inhibitory concentration (MBIC) ranging from 0.001 ppm to 1000 ppm to reduce deposition of an oral biofilm on teeth or soft tissue. Also disclosed are processes for preparing a styrene-maleic acid copolymer or terpolymer or salt thereof.
