摘要： An electrical connector assembly (1) includes a mother board (10), a card edge connector (20) mounted on the mother board, a daughter card (30), and a pair of board hold downs (40) mounted on the mother board. The card edge connector includes a housing (21) defining a slot (22), and a number of contacts (23) disposed on opposite sides of the slot and exposed into the slot. The daughter card includes a mating edge (31) inserted into the slot of the housing, a number of conductive pads (33) on the mating edge for electrically connecting with the contacts of the card edge connector. The board hold downs are separated from the card edge connector and hold the daughter card in the card edge connector.

The housing (2) has a space (20) formed from a mounting side of the housing (2) to the primary circuit board (4) and a face (22) formed at another mounting side of the housing (2) to the intermediate circuit board (5). A plurality of conductors (25) is retained in the housing and extends from the space (20) to the face (22) and each conductor (25) has one tail portion (251) to be press-fit on the intermediate circuit board (5) and another tail portion to be engaged with a corresponding hole (41) on the primary circuit board (4). The one-piece housing and fewer interfaces are used, and the mounting method and mechanism of the conductors is simplified to reduce the cost of manufacturing.

The mating extender comprises an insulative housing having first and second mating sections, and a number of wafers parallelly assembled into the insulative housing. The pulling portion is conveniently operated to drive the pressing member from the closed position to the open position to release the connection member.

The pressing member further defines an operating portion (36) opposite to the urging portion and extending outwardly away from a pivot axis (P) of the pressing member than other portions of the pressing member so as to allow operators to press in the center of the pressing member where the operating portion is situated. The operating portion also provides an available surface for picking and placing operation.
