Abstract: An organic EL device including: a substrate; a bank layer having therewithin an opening having an elongated shape in plan view; and a functional layer including an organic material, disposed within the opening, and having an elongated shape in plan view. The bank layer includes first banks opposing each other with the functional layer therebetween in an transverse direction of the functional layer and extending along a longitudinal direction of the functional layer and second banks opposing each other with the functional layer therebetween in the longitudinal direction of the functional layer and extending along the transverse direction of the functional layer. An angle θ2 between an inclined surface of a second bank and an upper surface of the substrate is greater than an angle θ1 between an inclined surface of a first bank and the upper surface of the substrate.
