Abstract: A steering apparatus for use in steering a vehicle includes: a movable body to which an input device is attached, the movable body configured to move back and forth in an extend-retract direction between a first position closer to the front of the vehicle and a second position closer to the driver; an intermediate guide that guides the movable body in the extend-retract direction, and moves back and forth in the extend-retract direction; a base guide that is attached to the vehicle and guides the intermediate guide in the extend-retract direction; a first extend-retract mechanism including an extend-retract drive source that causes the intermediate guide to move back and forth relative to the base guide; and a second extend-retract mechanism that causes the movable body to move back and forth relative to the intermediate guide by using driving force of the extend-retract drive source.

The controller is configured to perform first control and second control by which the movement driving unit is controlled. The first control is a control for moving the movable member along an axial direction of a shaft member within such a range that a front end of at least one of the shaft member and the movable member is located rearward of a space for movement in the front-rear direction of the vehicle. The second control is a control for moving the movable member along the axial direction within such a range that the front end portion is located inside the space for movement.

Abstract: A steering device that holds a steering member in such a manner that the steering member is movable between an advanced position where a driver can steer the steering member and a retracted position located closer to the front of a vehicle. The steering device includes: a fixed member attached to a vehicle body; a movable member to which a steering shaft holding the steering member is rotatably attached; and an upper guide mechanism and a lower guide mechanism that linearly guide the movable member with respect to the fixed member. An end on the advancing side of the upper guide mechanism is located further toward the advancing side than an end on the advancing side of the lower guide mechanism in an advancing and retracting direction of the movable member.

Abstract: A steering system includes a rotary shaft to which an operation member is coupled; a first actuator; a second actuator; a control unit; and a moving unit configured to move the operation member between a normal position and a storage area. The control unit is configured to switch between a manual drive mode and an autonomous drive mode. The control unit is configured to, when moving the operation member from the storage area to the normal position, start synchronous control when the operation member satisfies a predetermined condition before the operation member reaches the normal position, the synchronous control being control in which the control unit controls the first actuator to change a rotation angle of the rotary shaft to an angle corresponding to a steered angle of steered wheels driven by the second actuator.

Abstract: A steering device includes: a first moving unit that moves in an axial direction along with a shaft member to which an operating member is connected; a second moving unit; a holding unit; a first screw mechanism; a second screw mechanism; a driving unit; and a transmission mechanism that transmits driving force of the driving unit to the first screw mechanism and the second screw mechanism. One of the first screw mechanism and the second screw mechanism is provided so as to operate in a forward direction when the operating member moves between a retraction region and an operation region, and reverse efficiency of that one screw mechanism is set such that when the operating member is subjected to an external force directed toward the retraction region, that one screw mechanism does not operate in a reverse direction.
