Abstract:
A user interface provides a financial analysis system for real time monitoring of market conditions for a portfolio of stocks or other financial instruments. The interface presents three unique panels, which, upon selection by the user, provide different representations of data with respect to the portfolio or a selected portion of the portfolio. The user can rapidly cycle among these panels by activating icons. Further, the user can quickly retrieve additional data for a given stock from any of a variety of user-selectable sources by activating additional icons.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a financial analysis interface includes a first panel formed from a plurality of first windows stacked either vertically or horizontally or both, the first windows arranged in a non-overlapping manner such that each first window is visible simultaneously, each first window configured to display therein, in alphanumeric form, financial data corresponding to one of a plurality of different financial instruments. The first panel is linked to a corresponding second panel that is displayed when activated by a single user action, the second panel presenting a plurality of second windows, the second windows arranged in a non-overlapping manner such that each window is visible simultaneously, each second window representing a separate graphic view corresponding to one of the plurality of different financial instruments, and each second window displaying, at least in part, the same financial data as displayed in a corresponding one of said first windows.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a limited amount of financial information related to each of a plurality of financial instruments is displayed on a display screen of a computer. A user chooses a financial instrument of the plurality of financial instruments. A plurality of elements are shown on the display screen, each being associated with a different type of additional information supplemental of the limited amount of financial information. Each element is associated with a preferred remote data source chosen by the user. When a particular element is chosen by the user, additional information of the type associated with the particular element related to the chosen financial instrument is retrieved by constructing a uniform resource locator (URL) that combines a first financial instrument-independent URL portion that is specific to the preferred remote data source and a second financial instrument-specific URL portion that is specific to the chosen financial instrument.
