The first driver supplies a driving signal to a first electrode of a plasma display panel during a reset period, an address period and a sustain period and is electrically connected to a first reference voltage source. The third driver supplies a data signal to a third electrode of the plasma display panel during the address period and is electrically connected to a second reference voltage source. The separation controller controls the electrical separation between the first reference voltage source and the second reference voltage source during at least one period of the reset period, the address period or the sustain period.

The sustain driver consecutively supplies a first signal of a positive polarity direction, a second signal of a negative polarity direction, a third signal of a positive polarity direction, and a fourth signal of a negative polarity direction to the first electrode, and supplies a reference voltage to the second electrode during a sustain period. A duration of a bias period of the first signal is shorter than a duration of a bias period of the third signal.

摘要： A plasma display apparatus, and more particularly, a driving method and improved structure of a plasma display apparatus are provided. A sustain signal that alternates between a positive polarity and a negative polarity is supplied to only one electrode. Therefore, it can facilitate the adoption of an integrated driving board. Furthermore, a voltage magnitude of a set-up signal supplying in any one of the remaining sub-fields other than a first sub-field of a frame is less than the voltage magnitude of the set-up signal supplying in the first sub-field. It is therefore possible to increase the contrast.

The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a first electrode and a second electrode connected to a reference voltage source, a negative voltage controller that supplies a negative voltage output from a negative constant voltage source to the first electrode, a sustain driver, and a negative voltage blocking unit. The sustain driver supplies a sustain signal to the first electrode, and one terminal of the sustain driver is connected to one terminal of the negative voltage controller. The negative voltage blocking unit prevents the negative voltage from being supplied to the reference voltage source through the sustain driver while the negative voltage controller supplies the negative voltage to the first electrode.
