According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a first alignment film, and a sealant, wherein the first alignment film is an optical alignment film, the sealant includes an epoxy resin not having an acrylate skeleton and a resin having an acrylate skeleton, a storage elastic modulus of the sealant is greater than or equal to 1.0×107 Pa and less than or equal to 1.5×109 Pa, and at least a part of the sealant is in contact with the first alignment film.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to realize a liquid crystal display device having a photo-aligned alignment film in which the alignment film is overlapped with a seal material to downsize a frame area, and the reliability of a seal portion can be secured. A first alignment film and a second alignment film are overlapped with a seal material, the first alignment film and the second alignment film are made of material containing 0.5 wt % or larger and 2 wt % or smaller of an amine-system silane coupling agent, and the shrinkage ratio and the storage elastic modulus of the seal material evaluated using the modulus of volume change by a specific gravity cup method are 5.1% or smaller and 9.2 Pa or smaller, respectively. Accordingly, a frame area can be downsized, and the reliability of a seal portion can be maintained.

The second transparent substrate comprises a side surface opposed to the light-emitting element. A color of the sealant is black, yellow or red.

According to one embodiment, the liquid crystal material processing device includes a syringe containing contents composed of a liquid crystal material and the like, having a distal end portion constituting a first discharge pipe, an agitation mechanism agitating the contents of the syringe, a vacuum chamber having a second discharge pipe penetrating the bottom to connect to the first discharge pipe of the syringe. The agitation mechanism agitates the liquid crystal material and the pure water in the syringe, and purifies the liquid crystal material by causing water-soluble impurities to transfer to the pure water. The agitation mechanism agitates the liquid crystal material remaining in the syringe after the water layer has been discharged. The evacuation mechanism evacuates the vacuum chamber and causes the liquid crystal material to be degassed while the remaining liquid crystal material is agitated.
