Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes an image display panel and a driver driving the image display panel. The driver implements a first display mode in which a common voltage is a constant DC voltage; polarity of the video signal is inverted per a predetermined number of video signal lines; and the polarity of the video signal per a predetermined number of video signal lines is inverted in a frame unit, and a second display mode in which the common voltage is an AC voltage, polarity of which is inverted in a frame unit; the polarity of the video signal is opposite to the polarity of the common voltage; and the polarity of the video signal is inverted to be opposite to the polarity of the common voltage in a frame unit, and switches between these modes according to a mode switching signal from the outside.

Abstract: Each of frame display periods is for performing a display operation based on image information on one frame and each of detection surface touch detection periods is from when touch detection is started to when the detection is completed on the entire detection surface. At least one frame display period of the frame display periods and at least one detection surface touch detection period of the detection surface touch detection periods are started based on a display synchronization signal. The display operation and the touch detection operation are performed in a time-division manner in the one frame display period. The length of the one detection surface touch detection period is longer than the one length of the frame display period.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel including pixels arranged in a matrix, a common electrode, a pixel electrode disposed for each of the pixels, and a liquid crystal layer containing a polymer and liquid crystal molecules, a light source, and a controller controlling a voltage between the common electrode and the pixel electrode, and controlling an operation of the light source. The controller applies a voltage corresponding to an image component to write the image component between the common electrode and the pixel electrode in order from the pixel located on an opposite side to the light source in a first period, and turns on the light source to display an image corresponding to the written image component on the display panel in the first period.
