Abstract: According to an aspect, a pointing device used to indicate a position on a touch detecting device includes: a first output unit provided to a body of the pointing device with which a hand of a user holding the pointing device comes into contact; and a first signal generating unit that generates a palm detection signal including a first code and different from a signal detected in a touch operation with the pointing device, and outputs the palm detection signal to the first output unit.
