    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a liquid crystal display panel having a display surface, a cover panel overlaid on a display surface, a backlight unit opposed to the liquid crystal display panel, a case covering the backlight unit and the liquid crystal display panel, and including at least a part fixed to the cover panel; and an adhesive provided on the cover panel along the liquid crystal display panel. The adhesive includes a surface opposite to the cover panel, a first area on the surface, and a second area on the surface, and locates on an inner side closer to the liquid crystal display panel than the first area. The part of the case is adhered to the second area. The adhesive is formed in a frame shape with an inner opening surrounding the liquid crystal display panel without contacting the liquid crystal display panel.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, a cover panel, a container case fixed to the cover panel and covering the liquid crystal display panel, and a backlight unit disposed in the container case and opposed to the liquid crystal display panel. The container case includes a bottom wall, and a sidewall directly opposed to at least one edge of the backlight unit with a gap interposed therebetween. At least one of a reflective sheet, light guide plate, and optical sheet of the backlight unit is opposed to the sidewall of the container case with the gap interposed therebetween, and is contained in the container case in a relatively displaceable manner with respect to the container case and the liquid crystal display panel.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a backlight device includes a light guide including an emission surface including a flat area and an inclined area inclined in an out-of-plane direction from an edge of the flat area, a light source emitting light into the light guide, and an optical diffusion sheet on the emission surface. The optical diffusion sheet includes a diffusion flat area overlapping the flat area of the emission surface and a diffusion inclined area overlapping the inclined area of the emission surface, and a haze of the diffusion inclined area is higher than that of the diffusion flat area.

The second light guide plate overlaps the first light guide plate as viewed from a direction of the thicknesses thereof. The third and fourth scattering portions overlap the first region as viewed from the direction of the thicknesses.
