摘要: A carry case for a portable hand held appliance such as a radio unit is disclosed which is constructed of a soft resilient shock absorbing material and includes a retainer bracket of semirigid material affixed to the interior back wall of the case. This bracket includes a self locating means for centering the portable appliance within the case and a latch means spring biased to locate and retain the portable appliance within the carry case. The radio may be removed by a user's hand contacting an upwardly extending flange to clear the latch means and permit the radio to be removed from the case.

摘要: A radio assembly (100) includes a radio chassis (120) and radio housing (150). The radio chassis (120) includes a resilient cantilever arm (130) having an engaging portion (135). The radio housing (150) includes a mount channel (156) to position the cantilever arm (130), and a ramped catch portion (157) within the mount channel (156) to engage the engaging portion (135) of the cantilever arm (130) and to secure the radio chassis (120) within the radio housing (150). The chassis (120) is mounted to the radio housing (150) such that the engaging portion (135) of the cantilever arm (130) is positioned within the mount channel (156). The engaging portion (135) of the cantilever arm (130) is biasedly engaged with the ramped catch portion (157), and is deflectable so as to disengage from the ramped catch portion (157) when a deflecting force is applied to the engaging portion (135). A radio disassembly tool (300) disassembles the radio assembly (100) by deflecting and releasing the engaging portion (135) of the cantilever arm (130) from the ramped catch portion (157).

摘要: An apparatus for protecting an accessory connector (12) on a communication device (10). The communication device can include an opening (14) for providing access to the connector. The apparatus can be a cover (16) attached in a tethered relation to the communication device. A portion of the cover can be flexible so as to allow a user to selectively move the cover between a first position and a second position. In the first position, at the cover can substantially close the opening such that the connector is substantially protected from the infiltration of solid particles and the gross intrusion of liquids. In the second position, the cover can be held away from the connector such that substantially unimpeded access to the connector is permitted. The cover and communication device can have various associated features to ensure that the cover is retained in the first and second positions.
