Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a sensor that acquires first and second data groups of paper characteristics by measuring a recording medium; a processor that determines a parameter for controlling at least one of image formation and conveyance of a recording medium on a conveyance path based on the first and second data groups acquired by the sensor; an image former that forms an image on a recording medium conveyed on the conveyance path based on the parameter. The processor compares the first and second paper characteristic data groups, the first paper characteristic data group has been measured at a first time period and the second paper characteristic data group has been measured at a second time period nearer to a present time than the first time period, and the processor controls the image formation based on a the comparison result.
Abstract:
Provided is a recording medium detection device which prevents a recording medium from jamming. The device comprises: a first roller and a second roller which nip and transport a recording medium; a roller shaft which rotatably supports the second roller; a shaft support; and a displacement detector. The shaft support supports the roller shaft movably in the thickness direction of the recording medium. The displacement detector detects displacement of the second roller in the thickness direction. The shaft support further supports the second roller movably in the transportation direction of the recording medium through the roller shaft.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: an image holder that holds a toner image; a transferer that is disposed opposite to the image holder so as to be in contact with the image holder and transfers the toner image from the image holder onto a recording sheet that is going through a contact part where the transferer contacts the image holder, by applying a transfer voltage between the transferer and the image holder; a first power source that applies a voltage of a first polarity to the image holder; and a second power source that applies a voltage of a second polarity, which is reverse to the first polarity, to the transferer.
Abstract:
An improved image forming apparatus is described which can inhibit the quality of printed images from being degraded. A control unit performs a steering operation to shift an intermediate transfer belt toward a target belt position by controlling the inclination angle of a steering roller. Also, a memory stores the inclination angle of the steering roller in association with the operational states of rotary members facing the intermediate transfer belt. The control unit updates the values stored in the memory with an update value. When the result of detecting the belt edges indicate that the intermediate transfer belt falls in a predetermined range around the target belt position during the steering operation, the control unit determines the update value on the basis of the steering duration time and the inclination angle of the steering roller.
Abstract:
A post-processing device includes: multiple types of post-processing modules that are disposed at predetermined installation positions within the post-processing device and each execute post-processing to an output sheet on which an image is formed; and a controller that (i) detects the post-processing modules at the installation positions and (ii) determines and controls adjustment contents of the post-processing modules based on a detection result.
Abstract:
Disclosed is image forming apparatus, including a first roller and a second roller that conveys the recording sheet by sandwiching the recording sheet in a fixing process of an image forming; a pressing actuator that presses the first roller and the second roller against each other; an actuating motor that actuates the first roller; a brake that applies a brake force to the second roller; a rotation speed detector that detects a rotation speed of the second roller; and a hardware processor that judges a degradation of each surface roughness of the first roller and the second roller in accordance with the rotation speed of the second roller, which is detected when the first roller is actuated in a situation in which the first roller and the second roller are pressed against each other and when the brake applies a predetermined brake force to the second roller.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: a belt member configured to be rotationally operated at least during performance of a job; an adjustment mechanism configured to adjust the position of the belt member; a detection unit configured to detect the position of the belt member; and a control unit configured to control the adjustment mechanism during performance of a job, and perform steering control for correcting deviation of the belt member, the control unit comparing the position of the belt member at the end of a job, and a determination threshold for determining deviation of the belt member from a belt reference position, and selecting a control mode relating to the steering control, according to a result of the comparison.
Abstract:
A fixing apparatus includes an upper pressure roller, a fixing belt, a lower pressure roller which cooperates with the upper pressure roller and the fixing belt for forming a fixing nip portion which holds and conveys a sheet with a toner image therebetween; a drive motor which rotates the lower pressure roller; a plurality of motors each of which is capable of generating a braking force in the direction to hinder rotation of the upper pressure roller and an assist force in the direction to assist rotation of the upper pressure roller; a torque generation unit which generate an effective braking force in the direction to hinder rotation of the fixing side member as a combination of the braking and assist forces; and a control unit which switches the motor used to generate the braking force among the plurality of motors in accordance with a predetermined condition.
