It comprises a housing having a skin interface electrode for application to skin during treatment, a generator for generating non-thermal plasma at the skin interface electrode; and an isolating element to isolate a region surrounding said skin interface electrode other than during treatment so that non-thermal plasma generated at the skin interface electrode within said region sterilises the skin interface electrode.

The present disclosure further relates to a method of operating an adaptive lighting system (70) and to a corresponding computer program.

Abstract: A shaving system comprises a shaving device and a cleaning device. The shaving device has an orientation sensor for generating an output signal representing the orientation of the shaving device. The cleaning device supports the shaving device in a cleaning position with a predefined cleaning orientation. The cleaning device is controlled to operate according to a predefined cleaning program for cleaning the shaving unit when the orientation sensed by the orientation sensor corresponds to said predefined cleaning orientation. This shaving device thus makes use of an orientation sensor to identify when the shaving device is in a cleaning orientation. This gives a low cost sensing solution and enables a single user input button to be used for operating the shaving device and for starting a cleaning program.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hair cutting apparatus (600), such as a shaver, which is enabled to detect whether hair is currently being cut in a robust way. Such apparatus has a motor (102) for driving a cutting element. The motor current (106) is evaluated by filtering and amplifying it in such a way that a time derivative of the motor current (106) is processed and other parts of the motor current (106), such as noise and DC-5 parts, are eliminated. An evaluator determines whether the time derivative of the motor current is above a predefined threshold value.

Abstract: The invention relates to an electric shaver (1) comprising a cutter unit (3), an electric motor (4), a load detector arranged to detect a load current of the motor (4) and a controller. The controller switches the average voltage from a first level to a second level once the load current exceeds a first threshold value (TH_TH), and switches the average voltage from the second level back to the first level if the load current falls below a second threshold value (TH_TL) and stays below the second threshold value (TH_TL) for a predefined time period. By operating on a lower energy consumption when the cutter unit of the shaver is not in contact with the skin, energy is saved without the need for a proximity sensor.
