Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a scanner casing having a contact glass on an upper face, and located on an upper side of a main body frame of the image forming apparatus, a document retention member openably covering the upper face of the scanner casing, a hinge mechanism pivotably supporting the document retention member, a leg portion to an upper end portion of which the hinge mechanism is fixed, an insertion hole formed in the scanner casing, and having an opening oriented upward, in which the leg portion is inserted; and a reinforcing tube attached to an inner face of the insertion hole. The scanner casing includes a first housing, and a second housing mounted on an upper side of the first housing. The reinforcing tube is held between the first housing and the second housing in an up-down direction, and restricted from moving in the up-down direction.

Abstract: A driving transmission device includes a storage part, a fixing pin and a supporting part. The storage part has a through hole. The fixing pin rotatably supports a gear. To the supporting part, the fixing pin is fixed. A hole side chamfered portion is formed at an outside opening edge of the through hole. A shaft side chamfered portion is formed at the tip end portion of the fixing pin. A lubricant is applied to a contact area between the fixing pin and the through hole. A hole side boundary portion between an inner circumferential surface of the through hole and the hole side chamfered portion is in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the fixing pin. A shaft side boundary portion between an outer circumferential surface of the fixing pin and the shaft side chamfered portion faces the hole side chamfered portion with a gap.

Abstract: An image reading device includes a loading plate, a frame, a scanner, a flat cable, and a holding member. The scanner includes a reading mechanism that extends in a main scanning direction and reciprocates in a sub-scanning direction on the side of a bottom surface opposite to an upper surface on which a document on the loading plate in the frame is loaded. The flat cable extends in the frame so that a width direction of the flat surface follows a direction orthogonal to the bottom surface of the loading plate. The holding member reciprocates together with the scanner and holds a part of the flat cable from the side on a main surface of the frame.
