Abstract: A gear connection structure included in a drive device of a document conveyance device includes: a rotary shaft extending in an axial direction thereof; a parallel pin inserted through a pin hole formed in the rotary shaft, the pin hole passing through the rotary shaft in a radial direction thereof orthogonal to the axial direction; a gear; and a biasing member. The gear includes: a shaft hole through which the rotary shaft is passed; and a pin groove inside which the parallel pin is placed. The biasing member biases the parallel pin placed inside the pin groove from a separate wall being one of a pair of walls of the pin groove toward a contacting wall being the other of the pair of walls to press the parallel pin against the contacting wall and against a side of an inner periphery of the pin hole close to the contacting wall.

Abstract: A sorting device is mounted, in an image forming apparatus, in a sheet discharge space open at its front and sheet-discharge-direction downstream side, insertably or extractably at the downstream side. The sorting device includes a base portion, a tray portion, and a flexible member. The base portion is mounted, with the tray portion, in the base portion. The base portion has, in its upstream part in sheet discharge direction, a base inclined portion inclined upward downstream. With the base portion mounted in the bottom portion, the base inclined portion faces, across a predetermined gap, a bottom inclined surface inclined upward downstream in discharge direction. The tray portion is supported on the base portion to be reciprocatable in sheet width direction orthogonal to discharge direction. The flexible member is fitted to the base inclined portion and fills the gap between the base inclined portion and the bottom inclined surface.

The unit frame has a cover fitting face to which the light guide cover is fitted and a plurality of cover guides with which a plurality of guide engaging portions engage respectively.

Abstract: A sorting device includes a base portion, a tray portion, and a tray driving portion. The tray driving portion includes a motor, a supporting shaft, an input member, an output member, a link mechanism, and an urging member. The input member includes a first boss portion movably supported on the supporting shaft, and is reciprocatable up and down along the supporting shaft. The output member has a second boss portion coupled with the first boss portion via a ratchet mechanism. The link mechanism converts a rotary motion of the output member to a linear motion of the tray portion. The ratchet mechanism operates such that, when a predetermined or heavier load is applied to the output member via the tray portion, the input member is pushed down against the urging force of the urging member and engagement between the first and second ratchet teeth is released.

Abstract: A development device includes a developer carrier, a housing, a layer thickness regulating member and an attachment member. The developer carrier carries a developer developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier, the developer carrier rotating around an axis. The housing stores the developer carrier and the developer, and has an opening through which the developer carrier is exposed. The layer thickness regulating member is disposed so as to form a gap between the layer thickness regulating member and the developer carrier and regulates a layer thickness of the developer carried on the developer carrier. The attachment member is made of a material has the same thermal expansion property as the layer thickness regulating member. The layer thickness regulating member is fixed to the attachment member using only an adhesive.
