Abstract: Multi-component devices for reinforcing and/or strengthening concrete members that comprise both fiber reinforced polymer materials and metallic materials. The multi-component devices may be in the form of a layered structure in which one or more smaller metallic plates are sandwiched between layers of the same or different fiber reinforced polymer sheets. Alternatively, the multi-component devices may comprise metallic and fiber reinforced polymer rods fastened together, which may be embedded within new concrete structures as major reinforcement.
