Abstract: A device for holding a drawer closed includes a fork-like member which is pivotable between an inoperative position and an operative position. When the drawer is open, the fork-like member is normally in the inoperative position. As the drawer is closed, a pin on the drawer engages a first tine of the fork-like member to thereby pivot the latter to the operative position in which the pin is engaged by a second tine of the fork-like member. The second tine biases the pin under the action of a spring so as to hold the drawer closed. A returning member is integral with the fork-like member and serves to return the fork-like member to the inoperative position if the fork-like member is unintentionally pivoted to the operative position while the drawer is open. The returning member is provided with a channel having a first open end adjacent to the fork-like member and a second open end which faces the pin when the drawer is open and the fork-like member is in the operative position. The second open end has a resilient closure which permits entry of the pin into the channel but serves as a barrier to withdrawal of the pin. Upon closing the drawer, the pin enters the channel through the second open end. When the drawer is subsequently opened, the pin abuts the closure thus causing the returning member to pivot the fork-like member towards its inoperative position. The pin leaves the channel of the returning member via the first open end after the fork-like member reaches the inoperative position.

Abstract: A guide for a drawer includes a rail and a device for holding the rail on the drawer. The holding device has a mounting portion which is secured to the drawer by a fastener, a resilient leg and a lever which is perpendicular to the rail. The rail is provided with an aperture and the leg has a protrusion which is receivable in the aperture so as to engage the rail. The protrusion can be withdrawn from the aperture by pulling on the lever. The lever is remote from one end of the leg and at least this end of the leg is fast with the mounting portion of the holding device.

Abstract: The side faces of a reciprocable drawer carry U-shaped rails whose flanges are outwardly adjacent to the flanges of complementary U-shaped rails which are adjustably secured to a stationary member of the piece of furniture in which the drawer is installed. The front ends of the rails are accessible when the drawer is moved to a partly or fully open position, and the front ends of the rails on the stationary member can be moved up or down by eccentric worm wheels which are mounted between the flanges of the complementary rails and engage the respective upper flanges. The worm wheels can be rotated by worms which are mounted in the complementary rails and mesh with the respective worm wheels. When a worm is rotated, the corresponding eccentrically mounted worm wheel effects an upward or downward movement of the front end of the corresponding complementary rail, and such rail causes the front end of the associated rail on the drawer to share its movement. The worm wheels are secured to the stationary member by screws whose shanks extend through elongated vertical slots of the corresponding complementary rails. Cages with rolling elements are interposed between the flanges of the rails on the drawer and the neighboring flanges of the rails on the stationary member.
