    摘要: A sheet member feeding and conveying apparatus has a tray having a tray main body capable of displacement in directions close to and away from a pickup section for taking out a document in the take-out position. There is a tray driving section for driving the tray main body to be displaced in the directions close to and away from the pickup section. A control section is provided for controlling the tray driving section so as to, in a feeding state, drive the tray main body to be displaced so that a document closest to the pickup section held on the tray is placed in the take-out position, and in a waiting state, drive the tray main body to be displaced in a waiting position closer to the pickup section than a position where the maximum holding amount of documents are held on the tray.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes: a pattern determination information calculator for calculating printing pattern determination information on an original; a pressure changer for changing the pressure of a pressing member of a cleaning device; and a controller for varying the pressing force of the pressing member by controlling the pressure changer in accordance with the printing pattern determination information calculated by the pattern determination information calculator. The controller controls the contact pressure driver of the pressing roller so as to weaken the pressing force when that controller determines that printing paper printed with high density patterns or high coverage patterns will be passed through.

    摘要: A fusing device includes a pressure member, a heating member, and an external heating member. The heating member has an outer surface in contact with an outer surface of the pressure member. The heating member heats a sheet that is being passed in a first direction through a contact area between the pressure member and the heating member. The external heating member heats a predetermined area of the surface of the heating member from outside. Length of the predetermined area along a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction is set shorter than entire length of the heating member along the second direction.

    摘要: When an image forming apparatus, after a feeding error of a recording material occurs in a fixing device, re-forms on the recording material an image corresponding to image data which image was formed on a sheet which caused the feeding error, an image forming condition is caused to be different from an operation condition used when the feeding error has occurred. This makes it possible to prevent a JAM corresponding to the same image from recurring in the fixing device.

    摘要: A fixing apparatus includes a hot roller, a fixing roller, a fixing belt that extends between the fixing roller and the hot roller and revolves, a pressure roller that is pressed against the fixing roller via the fixing belt, and forms a nip region between the pressure roller and the fixing belt, and at least one non-contact temperature sensor that detects a temperature of the fixing belt. A first temperature detection portion is set in a region where the fixing belt is in contact with a circumferential surface of the hot roller. A second temperature detection portion is set in a region that is on a downstream side in a revolution direction of the fixing belt relative to a point at which the fixing belt separates from the circumferential surface of the hot roller, and that is on an upstream side in the revolution direction relative to the nip region.
