A backlight device for a liquid crystal display has a lamp and a lamp holder surrounding the lamp. The lamp holder is made of a conductive material to play the role of a cable and has one end thereof implemented as a socket capable of mating with a base provided on the lamp. The lamp can be replaced easily without resorting to troublesome manipulation.

A liquid crystal display panel includes a TFT connected to wiring equipped with an input terminal; a pixel electrode connected to the TFT; and a common electrode opposed to the pixel electrode, wherein an electrode spacing between the pixel electrode and the common electrode is adjusted depending on the amount of a signal degradation that arises from a signal flow from the input terminal through the wiring to the TFT.

To eliminate or reduce unevenness on a screen display generated due to distortion stresses generated because of small size differences or the like occurred during the time of processing or assembling. A liquid crystal module includes a liquid crystal panel for displaying an image, a backlight for irradiating light to the liquid crystal panel to light up the liquid crystal panel, and a shield plate for shielding electromagnetic waves from inside and outside, wherein the backlight is mounted to a frame-type chassis and a panel holding frame for holding the liquid crystal panel is provided thereto. The frame-type chassis and the panel holding frame are structured to be capable of being displaced in a direction approaching to or isolating from the screen of the liquid crystal panel by a displacement adjusting screw that is engaged either with the frame-type chassis or with the panel holding frame.

A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel, a lamp unit including a lamp and a lamp holder, a light guide plate, and a case assembly. The case assembly includes a rear case behind the liquid crystal display panel. The rear case has the lamp holder and light guide plate on a surface thereof in a manner to hold them in operative relationship, with the lamp holder kept independent from the light guide plate.

An LCD device has an LCD panel, a backlight unit for irradiating the rear surface of the LCD panel, and a backlight chassis for positioning the backlight unit with respect to the LCD panel. The backlight unit has a lamp, an optical conductive plate and an optical sheet assembly formed on the optical conductive plate. The optical sheet assembly includes a pair of light scattering sheets and a pair of lens sheets sandwiched between the pair of light scattering sheets. The edges of the lens sheets protrude from the edge of one of the light scattering sheet, which is flush with the edge of the optical conductive plate. A bright line degrading the image quality of the LCD device can be suppressed.
