Abstract: Disclosed are a method for supporting extended idle mode discontinuous reception activation in a wireless communication system, and an apparatus therefor. Specifically, the method for supporting extended idle mode discontinuous reception (eDRX) activation in a wireless communication system comprises the steps of: when a triggering condition for a tracking area update (TAU) procedure is satisfied, transmitting, by a terminal, a TAU request message to a mobility management entity (MME); and receiving, by the terminal, a TAU accept message from the MME in response to the TAU request message, wherein, while the terminal has a packet data network (PDN) connection for providing an emergency bearer service, an eDRX parameter is negotiated between the terminal and the MME, using the TAU request message and the TAU accept message, but the eDRX may not be used by the terminal.
