Abstract: A backlight unit including a frame; a substrate located on one side of the frame; a plurality of light assemblies mounted on the substrate; a light guide plate configured to guide light emitted by the light assembly; and a reflection sheet located between the light guide plate and the frame and configured to reflect light emitted by the plurality of light assemblies. In addition, the light guide plate includes a first block including a plurality of light guide areas configured to emit light emitted by a corresponding first set of light assemblies; and a second block including a plurality of light guide areas configured to emit light emitted by a corresponding second set of light assemblies.
