Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting a single RRC group reject message to reject the RRC connection requests of a plurality of terminals, thus minimizing the waste of radio resources and providing a quick response to those terminals that transmitted a request. A list containing initial UE identities of those terminals to be rejected, and a rejection cause indicating the reason for rejection are included in the single RRC group reject message. Preferably, the list should be generated within a certain time limit to prevent some terminals from re-transmitting their RRC connection requests.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for informing terminals in a UMTS regarding state information of an MBMS in order to prevent terminals from requesting a service that cannot be provided in a cell in which it is newly located. The mobile communication network informs the terminals about its service provision state for a particular MBMS service being provided, and the terminals operate in accordance with this service provision state information to minimize unnecessary operations of the terminal and unnecessary signaling and waste of radio resources.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting a single counting end message to reject the RRC connection requests of a plurality of terminals, thus minimizing the waste of radio resources and providing a quick response to those terminals that transmitted a connection request. RRC connection request messages are sent by a plurality of terminals to a network in response to an RRC connection-required message received from the network on a first channel. Each terminal monitors a second channel for an RRC connection setup message. The network establishes connections with a predetermined number of terminals by transmitting an RRC connection setup message to each terminal on the second channel and then transmits a single RRC connection-not-required message to the plurality of terminals on the first channel. Each terminal that does not receive an RRC connection setup message on the second channel after a predetermined period of time then monitors the first channel and, after receiving the RRC connection-not-required message, terminates the network connection procedure and does not re-transmit an RRC connection request message.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for establishing feedback channels in an MBMS (multimedia broadcast/multicast service) for UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) by selectively establishing RRC connections with terminals that are capable of transmitting uplink feedback information regarding the particular MBMS service. When requesting an RRC connection, a terminal sends an RRC connection message including information related to MBMS and the UTRAN selectively establishes an RRC connection with the terminal based on the information related to MBMS. The terminal indicates whether both a point-to-multipoint radio bearer and a point-to-point radio bearer can be received and, optionally, provides terminal class information in the RRC connection request message. The UTRAN gives higher priority to those terminals that indicate the capability to receive both a point-to-multipoint radio bearer and a point-to-point radio bearer when selecting terminals with which to establish an RRC connection, thereby maximizing feedback information regarding a particular MBMS service.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for processing security message in mobile communication system. The present invention provides a method of securing integrity protection for a received security message and includes the steps of receiving the security message, storing previous security-relating variables, carrying out security check on the security message, discarding or processing the security message according to a result of the security check, and updating the security-relating variables. Accordingly, the present invention enables to carry out integrity check by storing the security-relating variables previously even if the security message itself is discarded.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for processing data in a receiver used in a wireless communication system is provided. The data processing method uses the receiver apparatus comprising a medium access control (MAC) layer and a radio link control (RLC) layer for processing data units. The data processing comprises communicating a data unit and a cyclic redundancy code (CRC) check result associated with the data unit from the MAC layer to the RLC layer; examining in the RLC layer that the CRC check result sent from the MAC layer that indicates whether the data unit has an error; and discarding the data unit when the data unit has error and when an error handling scheme is not provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for processing a security setup control message in a mobile communication system. The present invention provides an apparatus and method of securing integrity protection for a received security setup control message such that the processing of future messages is not impacted if the security setup control message is deemed unreliable and discarded.
