Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile terminal capable of implementing a user interface for effectively providing information, and a method for controlling the same. Abstract: An electronic device and an operating method thereof are disclosed. The electronic device includes a main body, a display configured to display a 3D screen corresponding to virtual reality content, a controller, when an event occurs from at least one application while the 3D screen is displayed, configured to output notification information notifying an event occurrence in correspondence to the 3D screen, and a sensor configured to sense a degree of movement of a user when the notification information is output. At this time, when the degree of movement of the user sensed during the event satisfies a predetermined condition, the 3D screen is replaced with dummy content related to the 3D screen; and the dummy content disappears when the event ends.
