摘要: A combination of a bellows structure (12), volume restrictor, and pressure restrictor for use on a hand-operated resuscitator is provided to enable delivery of ventilation within specific volume and pressure limitations specified by the operator. The bellows structure (12) consistently provides predictable and uniform generation of gas flow for ventilation without regard to one or two-handed technique, hand placement, or hand size. The volume restrictor, primarily comprising of an inflow obturator (20), outflow obturator (22), and placement cam (34), enables the physician to specify a specific tidal volume to be delivered, which constitutes a volume-controlled cycling capability of the invention. The pressure restrictor, primarily comprising of an outer housing (40), stopper housings (41), and a stopper (50), enables the physician to specify a specific maximum airway pressure to be exposed to the patient, which constitutes a pressure-controlled cycling capability of the invention. Combined use of the volume and pressure restricting mechanisms can provide for various additional abilities, including limiting airway pressure during volume-controlled ventilation or providing a means to detect decreasing pulmonary compliance.

摘要: A cleansing catheter for cleaning debris from the fiberoptic window ends of bronchoscopes, other endoscopes and the like, comprises a hollow catheter shaft (26) with an inflatable balloon (28) at one end. A preferred embodiment has a cylindrically shaped balloon (28) with a plurality of small holes (34) through the skin of the balloon arrayed about its annular base so that, when the balloon is filled with liquid, streams of liquid will escape through the holes back along the catheter shaft. In use, the cleansing catheter is advanced, with its balloon end collapsed, through a working channel of a bronchoscope or other endoscope until the balloon end just exits the working channel opening at the lens end of the endoscope. The balloon is then inflated with liquid delivered through the catheter shaft so that streams of liquid from the balloon holes spray against and clean debris from the fiberoptic window of the endoscope.

摘要: The collapsible amplifier stand comprises a pair of U-shaped portions preferably formed out of tubular steel, one of which fits within the other. They are joined at their leg portions by axles having a common axis. Straps are connected between the leg portions to limit the distance between the bight portions when the stand is opened. The bight portions have a pair of straps connected therebetween. The straps are much longer than the maximum distance permitted between the bight portions and thus form a sling for an amplifier to be supported in the sling between the bight portions. The distance between the bight portions and the axles is less than the distance between the ends of the legs and the axles so that the ends of the legs are spaced horizontally outward from the bight portions when the amplifier stand is in use.
