Abstract: The description herein discloses a chainsaw, which may include: a saw chain; a guide bar equipped with the saw chain; a sprocket for running the saw chain along a periphery of the guide bar; a motor including an output shaft connected to the sprocket; a cooling fan connected to the output shaft; and a base member for holding the guide bar. The base member may be constituted of a heat conductive material having a thermal conductivity of 10 W/m·K or more when a temperature of the heat conductive material is 300 K. The base member may include: a plate portion arranged such that the plate portion faces the motor in a direction along the output shaft; and a rib portion protruding from the plate portion toward the motor.

Abstract: A chain saw may comprise a braking mechanism; a housing including a first space and a second space in which the braking mechanism is disposed; and an operation member. The housing may include a through hole communicating the second space to outside of the housing. The operation member may be disposed over the second space and the outside of the housing through the through hole. The operation member may be movable between a braking position where the operation member causes the braking mechanism to interrupt rotation of a saw chain and a driving position where the operation member causes the braking mechanism not to interrupt the rotation of the saw chain. The braking mechanism may comprise a connecting member that moves in the second space in conjunction with movement of the operation member. The housing may include an opening communicating the first space to the second space.

Abstract: A chainsaw includes a handle with a handgrip; an electric motor for endlessly moving a saw chain; a control unit for controlling rotation of the motor; and a main power switch switchable between an ON state and an OFF state. The handgrip is provided with a gripping detection device for detecting whether the handgrip is gripped by the worker, and the chainsaw is configured to, when the control unit is manipulated to deactivate the electric motor in a state in which the gripping detection device detects that the handgrip is gripped, maintain the main power switch in the ON state, and to, when the control unit is manipulated to deactivate the electric motor in a state in which the gripping detection device detects that the handgrip is not gripped, switch the main power switch to the OFF state.

When the chainsaw is placed on a horizontal mounting surface and viewed in the direction along the rotation axis, an angle between (i) a straight line connecting the rotation axis and a position where the first facing surface and the second facing surface are connected and (ii) a horizontal plane may be in a range of −10 degrees to 25 degrees.
