摘要： A novel process for the production of pivalolactone is characterized by dehydrochlorinating monochloropivalic acid in vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst comprising at least one of the metal salts selected from the group consisting of phosphates and pyrophosphates of alkali metals, alkali earth metals, zinc, cadmium, aluminum, thalium, lead, manganese, cobalt and nickel, and chlorides of alkali earth metals, silver copper, thallium, lead and cobalt. Said catalyst may be further combined with an activator selected from the group consisting of the oxides of zirconium, arsenic and rare earth elements.
