Abstract: An organofunctional silicone or silane compound suitable for use as an electrolyte is provided. The organofunctional silicone or silane compound may be used to provide an electrolyte composition suitable for use in an electrochemical device. The organofunctional silicone or silane compound can be used as an electrolyte additive, co-solvent, solvent used in an electrolyte formulation which may be suitable for electrochemical devices.
