Abstract:
A computer-implemented method includes making an analytics-based determination that a water vessel has moved from one region to another region. The computer-implemented method also includes changing, within a security system and responsive to the determining, security monitoring of the water vessel from a first monitoring mode to a second monitoring mode, and the second monitoring mode being more sensitive than the first monitoring mode in relation to a measured velocity of the water vessel being a conditionally defined trigger for at least one analytics-based alarm within the security system.
Abstract:
A method for operating a radio communication device in a multi-watch mode is provided. The radio communication device receives communications on a primary channel and at least one non-primary channel. Further, a talk-back channel is enabled to respond to communications received on the primary channel. The radio communication device determines whether there is any transmission activity in response to a communication received on the non-primary channel. The radio communication device further determines whether the communication received on the non-primary channel comprises critical information when there is no transmission activity for a pre-defined time period since the communication was received on the non-primary channel. When the radio communication device determines that the communication received on the primary channel comprises critical information, the radio communication device switches to the talk-back channel to respond to communications received on the non-primary channel.
Abstract:
Techniques for resetting a primary communications channel of a drone based on a new connection parameter received over a secondary communications channel are provided. It is detected that a drone is suspected of being hijacked. A primary communications channel to the drone that is used for flight operations is disabled. A secondary communications channel that is less suitable for flight control operations is established. At least one new connection parameter for the primary communications channel is received over the secondary communications channel. The primary communications channel is reset based on the at least one new connection parameter.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for initiating a search of material displayed on a touch screen is provided herein. During operation, a speed of a scroll of the material is measured. Based on the speed of the scroll, a voice-search function will be initiated on a material.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for muting a device is provided herein. During operation a device such as a two-way radio detects a user's voice and will mute the radio in response to the voice being detected. During the time period the device is muted, all received transmissions will be stored by the radio. These transmissions will be played back to the user when voice activity has ceased for a predetermined amount of time. In a second embodiment of the present invention, the device is only muted when a particular identified user's voice is detected.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for more-quickly locating an individual during a man-down situation is provided herein. During operation a light source on an officer's vehicle will be directed towards the downed officer when a man-down situation has been identified. Since a light source will be pointed at the downed individual, respondents responding to the man-down situation may more-quickly locate any downed individual.
