    摘要: An article of footwear includes a shoe sole, a shoe upper having medial and lateral sides, and a closure element which overlaps the shoe upper and has a plurality of fastening projections. The closure element extends upwards along each side of the shoe upper as well as beneath the shoe sole. Each of the fastening projections includes an aperture or loop for receiving a shoe lace such that the projections on opposing sides of the shoe upper are connected together by the shoe lace and the shoe upper is thereby secured around the foot of the wearer. The closure element may be permanently attached to the article of footwear, or it may be removably disposed thereover. The tongue of the shoe upper may also include a positioning element for positioning the shoe lace between opposing sides of the fastening projections.

    摘要: Footwear having an improved cushioning sole structure is disclosed. The footwear includes an upper and a sole member attached to the upper. The sole member includes a sealed inner member of a flexible material which is inflated with a gaseous medium to form a compliant and resilient insert. An elastomeric yieldable outer member encapsulates the insert about preselected portions of the insert. The inner and outer members function together to form a viscoelastic unit for attenuating the shock and returning the energy of foot impact. A mechanism adjusts the impact response of the unit so that the effect of the insert dominates the impact response function in a predetermined area adjacent at least one side of the insert. The adjusting mechanism includes a gap in the outer member along the side of the insert adjacent the predetermined area so that the flexible material of the sealed inner member can flex in the gap during foot impact.

    摘要: An outer sole for an athletic shoe is disclosed. The outer sole includes a base formed of a relatively thin resilient material and having a heel section, an arch section, a forefoot section, a toe section, an upper major surface and a lower major surface. A plurality of discrete traction elements extend downward from the lower major surface of the base at spaced transverse and longitudinal locations, and include a plurality of discrete heel and arch traction elements located about longitudinally spaced locations in the perimeter of base in the heel and arch sections respectively. A rear shock attenuating area extends generally along the central longitudinal portion of the heel and arch sections. The rear shock attenuating area is substantially devoid of traction elements so that the relatively thin resilient material of the base in the rear shock attenuating area depresses downwardly during foot strike to attenuate the force of foot strike.
