A calendar view is constructed including an icon representing a particular document. The icon is presented at a location corresponding to the time of the document. In one embodiment, the calendar view includes a month view with each date having a corresponding area for presentation of document icons for documents processed on that date.

摘要： A document image storage system includes a control mechanism that automatically archives a document image in response to a document being produced by a peripheral device. The document image storage system also includes a memory machine and a remote storage facility coupled to the memory machine. The first memory machine archives document images. The remote storage facility archives document images received from the first memory machine. According to one embodiment, the memory machine and the remote storage facility are coupled via a communications channel. The communications channel transmits document images between the memory machine and the remote storage facility. According to a further embodiment, document image storage system includes a second memory machine coupled to the remote storage facility, the second memory machine also archives document images.

For example, an office local area network (LAN) may interconnect a copier, a printer, a fax machine, and a document management workstation. 摘要： A method and apparatus for automatic document classification using text and images. The present invention provides a method and apparatus for automatic document classification based on text and image. A new document is analyzed based on textual content as well as visual appearance. The new document is automatically stored in one or more mirror directories in which the new document would most likely be stored by the user of the device if the new document were placed manually. Determination of the most likely directories is based on an analysis of multiple documents stored by the user in various directories. The mirror directories are components of a mirror directory structure, which is a copy of a pre-existing directory structure, such as the user's hard drive. By storing the new document automatically, the user is relieved of the duty of manually selecting a directory for the new document.

The images of the back sides and front sides of documents are associated with one another to assure correct output in copying, faxing, scanning, etc. This increases reliability, eases recovery from errors including paper jams. Improved document handling capabilities also include avoiding twice duplicated and skipped pages and correcting page orientation errors.
