摘要: The present invention provides a distance-measuring device has an AF area sensor that includes an image pick up element formed on a semiconductor substrate for receiving two images having a parallax therebetween, and a photo reception signal processing circuit formed on the semiconductor substrate for processing signals corresponding to light received by the image pick up element. On the basis of sensor data (outline data) obtained by integration executed in the AF area sensor in an outline detection mode, the distance-measuring device detects a main subject in a photography screen, sets a distance-measuring area including the main subject, and measures a distance to the main subject.

摘要: The present invention provides a camera where a focusing position of a taking lens is adjusted as a first focus adjustment by a CPU, and as a second focus adjustment lower in accuracy but higher at a speed than the first focus adjustment. An object image is picked up through the taking lens by an imager, and an output signal of the imager is converted into image data. A compressibility of the image data obtained at the imager is set by an image processing section, and the image data is compressed in accordance with the set compressibility. Then, in accordance with the compressibility set by the image processing section, the CPU decides which of the first focus adjustment and the second focus adjustment is used to execute a final focus adjustment operation of the taking lens.

In the case where the first judging section judges that the photography scene is not the night scene, a second judging section judges whether or not the scene to be photographed is the reverse light scene. A main object specifying section specifies the main object in the case where either the first judging section or the second judging section judges the scene to be photographed is either the night scene or the reverse light scene. A distance measuring section conducts distance measuring calculation with respect to the main object specified by the main object specifying section.

摘要: According to a measuring apparatus for a camera, light is projected to an object from a projection section, and light reflected on the object is received at a first light receiving section and a second light receiving section arranged to be adjacent to each other. In the first light receiving section, a first and second signals relating to a light receiving position and a quantity of received light are output, and in the second light receiving section, a third signal relating to a quantity of light of the reflected light is output. In a discriminating and calculating section, if it is discriminated that the reflected light is positioned at a place, which is nearer than a predetermined distance, a measuring distance can be calculated from an output ratio of the first signal to the second signal by a measuring calculation circuit. On the other hand, if it is discriminated that the reflected light is positioned at a place, which is farther than the predetermined distance, a measuring distance can be calculated from the output ratio of the sum of the first and second signals to the third signal by the measuring calculation circuit.
