Abstract: A balloon catheter configured for delivery of a prosthetic heart valve is provided. The balloon catheter is configured to deploy a prosthetic heart valve through inflation. The balloon catheter is provided with a reinforcing member configured to increase the rigidity of the balloon catheter over an operational portion of the device. The increased rigidity serves to prevent damage to an introducer sheath, patient anatomy, or the prosthetic heart valve during delivery of the prosthetic heart valve.

Abstract: Valve delivery catheter assemblies including components that limit trauma to the expanded prosthetic valve and body channels as the distal tip of the catheter is withdrawn through the expanded valve and thereafter from the body. Catheter assemblies according to the present invention can include a handle assembly, an introducer sheath, and a distal tip assembly. The handle assembly can include a fixed main handle and two or more rotating handles that allow a user to control the distal tip assembly of the catheter. A safety button can be included on the handle assembly to allow for precise and consistent positioning of the prosthetic valve in the body. A valve retaining mechanism can be included to assist in retaining the prosthetic valve prior to deployment.

Abstract: A catheter shaft includes a proximal portion with a first polymer having a first stiffness and a first portion of a tubular braid component extending within the first polymer, an intermediate portion with a second polymer having a second stiffness and a second portion of the tubular braid component extending within the second polymer, and a distal portion with a third polymer having a third stiffness, a third portion of the tubular braid component extending within the third polymer, and a hypotube extending within the third polymer.
